Blizzard 2011

Happy snow day everyone!! Most places are closed today due to all the snow we got during the night. In Hudsonville we got about 15 inches but due to the high winds (about 45mph) there are some major drifts. Our family was so lucky to get ones of those drifts right in front of our house. 33 inches was at the highest point, but averaged about 26 inches throughout. We live in the outskirts of the city. Our development is off a country road, and we live at the corner of the country road and the beginning of the development. There is no tree coverage or other houses to block us from the high winds. Here are some pictures that I took.
The last couple of pictures are the boys hanging out in there fort. Bill had dug them a hole to hang out in and than made them a couch in the huge hill we made while shoveling the driveway.... that took us 3 hours to do as a family!
Looking down our street!

Bill sitting in the driveway to show how tall the drift was. He is giving it a thumb down (to clean it up) and a thumb up (for a day off)!

All finished with shoveling!
